We visited the 716 Pizza Joint for lunch on a Friday. We ordered at the counter and then went to the dining area. The ordering process was easy, as the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We asked a lot of questions about their Beef on Weck, and in each case, we received a good answer. The BOW is served with fries.
While we waited for our food, we had an opportunity to look around the dining area – totally a Buffalo Place! The owner is from Buffalo and shared some memories while the food was being prepared.
The review:
The beef was very flavorful and cooked to medium. The portion was large. It was moist and delicious. Thinly sliced and tender, although a few pieces had a touch of fibrous connective tissue. Overall score 4 points
The roll is a Costanzo roll, according to staff. It was warm, toasted, and had a great balance of salt and caraway. I like a little less topping on the roll, but it was The bottom of the roll had a moist au jus dip (or maybe it was just the runoff from the dipped beef) that made it just perfect.
Overall, the roll has a score of 3 points
Au jus was very nice, with a good flavor and no hint of au jus mix. Score: 1 point.
The horseradish was fresh and well-colored. It was milder than I liked, but it was a good condiment for the sandwich. I scored 1 point.
There was no pickle spear 🙁 Score: 0 points
Overall, this was a great sandwich by Florida Standards. With a total score of 27 points, it is also the highest BOW sandwich rated to date. We will go again.
