Ollie’s Public House

First Impressions

We stopped by Ollie’s Public House on October 19, 2025, for lunch. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with a spacious indoor bar and plenty of TVs mounted along the walls. While it didn’t appear to be a dedicated Bills bar, it would still be a good spot to catch a game.

We were seated promptly. The beer selection was decent, though they didn’t have any Labatt, Molson, or Genesee options. I went with a Smithwick’s on draft, which was a solid choice.

T

he Beef on Weck

Our order was the Beef on Weck (BOW) with a side of Baked Potato Salad, priced at $13.

The sandwich arrived with thick-cut roast beef—tender, flavorful, and unfortunately, refrigerator cold. It came topped with Swiss cheese and served on a toasted roll that lacked caraway seeds, so it didn’t really qualify as a true kummelweck roll. The accompanying horseradish was average, though the house-made pickles were a standout.

Overall, it was a tasty roast beef sandwich, but it didn’t quite live up to its “Beef on Weck” name.
BOW Score: 7/15

The Side: Baked Potato Salad

The Baked Potato Salad was excellent—full of flavor, well-seasoned, and with great texture. It complemented the sandwich beautifully.
Side Score: 5/5

Ambience & Experience

Ollie’s had a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The space was clean, organized, and pleasantly busy, yet the service remained attentive and friendly throughout our visit.
Ambiance Score: 10/10

Final Verdict: C

If you’re in search of an authentic Beef on Weck, this isn’t the spot. However, the food overall was good, the service was excellent, and the prices were fair. A nice place for lunch—just not for BOW purists.
