We visited this restaurant on April 21,2024, at lunchtime. The B.O.W. is on the lunch menu for 13.95 and is described as “The famous Buffalo, NY sandwich. Slow-roasted seasoned roast beef sliced thin and piled high between a kummelweck roll (we get our rolls from Costanzo’s Bakery in Buffalo and make the wecks in-house). Served with fries and a pickle. ” It is kind of an upscale menu with some Buffalo roots.
The Sandwich
The beef was sliced beautifully from the roast, rare to well done on each slice. This, plus some gristle, gave the meat a different texture. The beef could have also had more seasoning. The bun was good—toasted, well-topped, and fluffy. However, it was a bit soft and almost immediately got soggy and fell apart.
Good pickle and Au Jus Score 8.4/10
The Side
The side was french fries. Fries are ubiquitous on a B.O.W. and are hard to grade. Crinkle cuts are a negative, as are food service plain fries. Best are hand-cut, never-frozen, seasoned fries cooked to perfection. These fries were seasoned straight-cut fry with the slightest hint of frozen. Not Bad, but not great either. Score 8.5/10
The Restaurant
The restaurant and the service were excellent. This comes off as a total Buffalo Bar right down to the booth separators with a skyline of Buffalo! Very clean, no odor, and fabulous service. 10/10
