The Landing Bar and Grill is located in a plaza at 4351 Lynx Paw Trail, Valrico, FL and offers B.O.W. on Wednesdays as a special. They describe the bar as “a locally owned & operated friendly neighborhood bar & grill w/a Buffalo, NY influence. Our menu has choices for everyone w/fresh ingredients.”
We went on a Wednesday at the end of the lunch period and found many customers enjoying their meal. We were seated immediately and ordered within several minutes.
The Sandwich
The sandwich was served with a knife holding it together. It was done to my liking and was tender and moist. The flavor of the meat was not as beefy as I would like. (technically – the beef lacked Unami)
The roll was delightful! It had great texture, wonderful salt, and caraway that stayed on the roll through the cutting and eating of the sandwich. Crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside, this was one of the best rolls I have found in Florida. The sandwich was well-constructed and nicely presented. The Au Jus and horseradish were good as well. The overall score for the sandwich is 8.9/10
The Side
The side was coleslaw (I can hear the groans now…) which is not one of my favorites. Usually, I avoid coleslaw as it seems to be made way in advance and is a soggy, tasteless mess. This coleslaw was different! It was fresh, crispy, flavorful, and NOT SOGGY. I deducted 1 point as it is not the most original side giving the side a score of 9/10
The Restaurant
The restaurant and the service were close to perfect. A bills Bar vibe with a large bar and many TV’s for sports. I did deduct .2 points as there was a very slight odor of DMS or sulfur. The odor is likely not even noticeable to most people but as a former sensory trained brewer, it jumps out to me. My wife did not smell it. Overall, the restaurant scored 9.8/10
