A review of O’Maddy’s Bar and Grill located at 5405 Shore Blvd S, Gulfport, FL 33707
We went on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was packed. We were able to find a couple of chairs at the bar.
The beef was sliced very thin and extremely tender. From the picture, you can see it is rare-medium rare! This beef was the best so far, although it was not as warm as expected. Beef Score: 2.9 points
The bun was good. I prefer a bun with more salt and seeds than this one and for the bun to be toasted. I liked that the top of the bun had sprinkled salt and caraway seeds rather than being dipped in a bowl. The top was not dipped in au jus. Bun Score: 1 point
Pickles were OK, but a dill spear would have been more “Traditional.” Pickle: 0 points
The horseradish was mild – so mild I used the entire container on one half and never got the slightest horseradish burn. Horseradish: 0 points
The au jus was plentiful. Not too salty, but it tasted like there was beef bouillon (or the like) in it. We have had much worse – but a few that were much better. Au Jus: 1 point
Overall Score: 26/30 converted to new system
The fries were better than average.
Service at the bar was ok, considering the crowd, and no complaints there.
Overall, we drove almost two hours to try the sandwich and will gladly drive there again. Despite a few misfires and things that were not to my preference, I would rate this as a good B.O.W.! SCORE: B
