This recipe for Quick Au Jus uses beef broth instead of pan drippings
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of beef broth
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of water
Instructions:
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir the ingredients together until they are fully mixed.
- Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until it comes to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
- Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the simmering beef broth mixture, whisking constantly.
- Continue to whisk the mixture for 1-2 minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the au jus cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the au jus hot with your favorite meat dish, such as roast beef, steak, or prime rib.
